Archive Template Guide
This guide explains the video archive page used by the core video plugin.
The archive page is the public page where site visitors can browse published videos, search videos, and filter videos by the available video taxonomies.
Open the Video Archive Page
The default video archive URL uses the video post slug.
By default, the archive is available at:
https://your-site.com/videohub360/
If you changed the video post slug in the video settings, the archive URL uses the custom slug instead.
Configure the Archive URL Slug
- Go to VideoHub360 > Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
- Find URL Slug Settings.
- Update Video Post Slug if you want to change the video archive and single video URL base.
- Save the settings.
- Visit Settings > Permalinks and save the permalink settings again if the new URL does not load right away.
The same settings area also includes slug fields for video categories, video locations, and video series.
Configure the Archive Header
The video archive includes an optional full-width header banner.
- Go to VideoHub360 > Settings.
- Find Archive Page Header.
- Use Show Header Banner to enable or disable the archive header.
- Use Header Title to control the title shown in the archive header.
- Save the settings.
If the header is disabled, the archive content displays without the banner area.
Configure Archive Filters
The video archive can show filter dropdowns for:
- Category
- Series
- Location
To control these filters:
- Go to VideoHub360 > Settings.
- Find Archive Page Filters.
- Enable or disable the Category Filter, Series Filter, and Location Filter.
- Customize each filter label if needed.
- Save the settings.
The archive only shows the filter sidebar when at least one of these filters is enabled.
How Visitors Use the Archive
Visitors can use the archive page to:
- Browse published videos.
- Search videos using the archive search field.
- Filter videos by category, series, and location when those filters are enabled.
- Combine multiple filters together.
- Clear active filters using the archive’s clear filters link.
When a visitor searches while filters are already active, the archive keeps the selected filters applied with the search.
What Appears on Each Video Card
Each video card on the archive can show:
- Featured image or thumbnail area
- Play icon overlay
- Video title
- Author display
- Publish date
- View count
- Live badge when the video is currently live and the live badge is enabled for that video
- Live viewer indicator when the video is currently live
Live room posts are not shown in the standard video archive. The archive is focused on normal videos and older videos without a live room context.
Pagination
The archive uses the site’s normal WordPress posts-per-page setting to decide how many videos appear per page.
To change the number of videos shown per archive page:
- Go to Settings > Reading in the WordPress dashboard.
- Update Blog pages show at most.
- Save changes.
Troubleshooting
The archive page does not load
Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes. This refreshes the site’s URL rules.
The archive URL changed after editing the slug
The archive URL follows the Video Post Slug setting. Check VideoHub360 > Settings > URL Slug Settings to confirm the current slug.
Filters are missing from the archive
Go to VideoHub360 > Settings > Archive Page Filters and confirm at least one archive filter is enabled.
A filter dropdown is empty
Confirm that the related category, series, or location terms have been created for your videos.
The header banner is missing
Go to VideoHub360 > Settings > Archive Page Header and confirm Show Header Banner is enabled.
A live room is not appearing on the archive
Live room posts are intentionally excluded from the standard video archive. Use the appropriate live room area of the site for live room access.
