Community Menu Customizer Guide

Open Community Menu Settings

In the WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance → Customize.

The Customizer includes Community Menu sections for behavior, layout, colors, and typography.

Configure Community Menu Behavior

Use the behavior controls to decide when the community menu appears.

The available controls include options for logged-out visitors, dashboard visibility, authentication page visibility, and compact display.

Configure Community Menu Layout

Use the layout controls to adjust the menu’s left gutter and width.

These settings affect how the left rail community menu sits beside the page content.

Configure Community Menu Colors

Use the color controls to customize the community menu background, text, hover, active, and active background colors.

Configure Community Menu Typography

Use the typography controls to adjust the community menu font settings.

Publish and Test

  1. Make the desired Customizer changes.
  2. Publish the changes.
  3. View the site while logged in.
  4. View the site while logged out if the logged-out menu setting is enabled.
  5. Check the dashboard and authentication pages if you changed those visibility options.

Troubleshooting

The community menu does not appear

Confirm a menu is assigned to the Community Menu (Left Rail) location under Appearance → Menus.

The menu appears on pages where you do not want it

Review the Community Menu behavior controls in the Customizer.

The styling did not update

Publish the Customizer changes and clear cache.
