Search
Search Guide
The theme includes several search experiences for different parts of the site. This guide explains the customer-facing search areas and the settings that control them.
Site Header Search
The site header can display a centered search bar with live results.
To control this option:
- Go to Appearance → Customize.
- Open Site Header.
- Find Show Centered Search Bar.
- Enable or disable the search bar.
- Publish your changes.
When enabled, the centered search bar appears in the main site header.
Grouped Search Results
The header search includes an option to group results by content type.
To control this option:
- Go to Appearance → Customize.
- Open Site Header.
- Find Group Search Results by Content Type.
- Enable the option to show grouped result sections.
- Disable the option to show one unified result list.
- Publish your changes.
When grouped results are enabled, available content types can appear as filter tabs or grouped sections. Only content types available on the site are shown.
Searchable Content Types
The theme search can include available site content such as:
- Videos
- Members
- Events
- Galleries
- Bulletins
- Posts
A content type only appears when that feature/content type is available on the site.
Blog Search
The blog archive includes its own post search field. This search is focused on regular WordPress blog posts.
The blog archive controls can also include category filters, tag filters, and sorting options.
Members Directory Search
The Members Directory can include a member search box when enabled in the member-related settings.
Use the Members Directory search to help visitors find users by member information such as display name or username.
Video and Dashboard Searches
Some video and dashboard areas include their own search/filter controls. These searches are focused on the content shown in that specific area, rather than the entire site.
Test Search
- Publish sample content for the area you want to test.
- Use the header search to search for a known title or member name.
- Test the grouped results setting.
- Search the blog archive for a known post title.
- Search the Members Directory for a known member.
- Clear cache and retest if frontend results do not update.
Troubleshooting
The header search does not appear
Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Header and confirm Show Centered Search Bar is enabled.
Search results are not grouped
Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Header and enable Group Search Results by Content Type.
A content type is missing from search
Confirm that content type exists and has published content. Some result groups only appear when that feature is available on the site.
Members are not appearing in search
Confirm the Members Directory feature is enabled and that users exist on the site. Also check any membership/access settings that may limit directory results.
Blog search does not find a post
Confirm the post is published and is a regular WordPress post. Drafts, private posts, or unrelated content types may not appear in the blog search.
